Here is a fun collaboration I worked on a little while back. It was a birthday present, so I didn't want to share it too soon and risk spoiling the surprise ;). The nautical flags spell out the surname 'Kanarvogel'.

I had great fun playing around with the graphic images of the nautical flags. Kind of like Jasper Johns I got to be really playful with my materials (ok, maybe I'm reaching, but who wouldn't like to compare themselves to him?? Give me my moment ...)!

*Anyway, if anyone else has an idea for a collaboration I am always open to working with you.

New Fabric

Fabric printing method experimentation has come full circle. Although being able to print my pillows at home had tons of benefits, there were also quite a few downsides to using my Epson.

Luckily, my trial run using Spoonflower was a success!

What's so great about the new prints?

Besides being brighter, clearer and cleaner.... The new pillows are printed using high quality inks and are washable, incase you have messy house guests (or maybe you are the messy 'guest').

CLAMBAKE ANYONE??

Hi :) I don't have any shows scheduled for the next two weekends. What does that mean? Time to recover and restock from last weekend's gorgeous showing in Westhampton Beach! Lots of printing/packaging is going on in my studio. I am also experimenting with having my work professionally printed on fabric (since my printer is growing more and more temperamental, yuck). Wish me luck with that!

Besides all of this work, I have been soaking up the summer sun, eating as much yummy seafood as possible, and I have found a new iggly-wiggly green friend.

If any of you(s) know what type of butterfly this little guy is going to turn into, please share!

I'm praying for a bright colorful one. Obviously! Ha!

What a weekend this is shaping up to be! Today and tomorrow, I will be set up on the green in Westhampton Beach for their annual Mary O. Fritchie Juried Art Show.

So far, my watermelonade has been quite a hit in WHB!

PRAY that the skies remain clear for another great show day tomorrow! I have been tracking these thunderstorms with the Weather Channel app. on my iPhone all day long.. Regardless of the weather, I have a fresh new batch of watermelonade ready ;)

Another reason why this weekend is quite excellent is... I'm the FEATURED COLLECTION on one of my favorite food blogs, They Draw and Cook!! I am so tickled to see my illustrated recipes on their opening page and am excited to share my work with their viewers. Check it out here*

I recently started working at Greenport Art and Design, a paint-your-own pottery studio, boutique, art gallery, and possibly one of the coolest places ever. Stop by and paint, browse through the tons of fun fun FUN stuff, and oh HEY they just started carrying some of my pillows and bags! ;)

Oh, besides being able to spend the entire day listening to cute little munchkins talk about 'why they like cats' and such, I sometimes get to paint some pottery. What could be better than that?

Watermelonade's Debut!

At the Southampton Artist Association's Art in the Park, I tested out my watermelonade recipe! It was a big hit, so I plan on handing out more free samples at future fairs.

Memorial Day Weekend Shows 2011

Memorial Day Weekend has come upon us! I am proud to say I will be a part of two great events taking place this weekend. This Saturday, May 28th, you can find me at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church for the South Fork Craftsmen's Guild Art Show.

Then on Sunday the 29th, the East End Arts Council is hosting its 15th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival in Riverhead where I will be a vendor.

Below are some images from my show that took place on May 7th in Sayville. It was great to get such wonderful feedback on my new "How-to" pieces and notecard display.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let everyone know that the wheels have started turning again in preparation for the Spring/Summer 2011 arts & crafts fairs. I am super excited to get a more refined and comprehensive line of products ready to share with fellow residents and visitors of the eastern end of Long Island.

The new line will be titled *Clambake and will pretty much express everything that I love the most about living in the heart of the Hamptons.

Fluffy Pineapple Dip TAKE THREE

I am currently revisiting some older illustrations, working on making them more dynamic. Fluffy Pineapple Dip was in dire need of some extra attention and lucky for you, this particular dip is a 'must try' party pleaser*.

Fluffy Pineapple Dip in a Pineapple Boat

In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1 beaten egg, 2 tablespoons orange juice and grated orange peel, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and grated lemon peel; Cook and stir over low heat until mixture reaches 160 degrees. Remove from heat. In a mixing bowl, beat 1 (3-oz.) pkg. softened cream cheese. Gradually add egg mixture, beating until smooth. Cool to room temperature. Fold in 1 (12-oz.) ctn. thawed frozen whipped topping. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Stand pineapple upright and vertically cut abut 1/3 from one side, leaving top attached. Remove fruit from large section leaving 1/2 inch shell. Cut fruit into chunks. Fill shell with dip. Serve with assorted fruit.

After spending more and more time with my family, I have realized that they eat out an awful lot more than I am used to. Since I would rather not feel like a blimp everyday, I have dramatically altered my ordering habits.

Hello 'Great Salad Tour of the Hamptons' Fall 2010!

Above is a fresh and tasty Baby Arugula salad featuring sopressata, gorgonzola, pepperocini, olives, red onion and the Villa Paul's homemade Italian vinaigrette.

Today I found these little radish doodles I had done awhile back and wanted to share them!

Interestingly enough, not only are radishes gorgeous, I was excited to find out they have many health benefits. If you read this article, radishes seem like the cure-all for pretty much anything you can imagine...

I am all for enjoying them as a cool and refreshing snack. But THIS recipe seems like the perfect way to turn this summery snack into an autumn delight:

Baked Radish Chips

Ingredients

10 radishes

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp garlic salt

1/2 tsp paprika

Directions

1. Thinly slice radishes

2. Steam in microwave for 5 minutes

3. Put in a bowl with spices; stir

4. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, flip the chips, and bake for another 10 minutes.

As promised, here is a small taste of some of the new things that have been keeping me occupied in my studio space..

Recently, I have started to experiment with printing processes and the idea of applying my images to three dimensional products.

Unfortunately, I did not get the seamstress gene, so working hand-in-hand with my ever so talented Mom, I hope to have a pleasant little collection of one of a kind pillows, bags, and more!

I have also increased my paper folding capabilities immensely as of late, reaching 1,000 cards in one evening of a Real Housewives marathon!

Now is time to go back to work..
